Description
Creamy peanut butter porridge blends half a cup of oatmeal with milk, water, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, simmered gently while being stirred to prevent lumps and achieve a smooth texture. The slow cooking allows the oats to absorb the liquids fully, resulting in a rich, creamy base. Adding peanut butter and honey on top introduces nutty and sweet elements, while fresh banana slices contribute natural sweetness and a soft texture contrast. Cinnamon adds warmth and depth without overpowering the dish. This porridge is served warm and can be adjusted with extra milk for a thinner consistency or a sprinkling of chopped peanuts for crunch.
Ingredients
- ½ cup oatmeal around 60g
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 cinnamon good pinch
- ¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
- honey to taste
- peanut butter to taste
- 1 banana sliced
Instructions
- Place the oatmeal, milk, water, cinnamon and salt in a saucepan and give it a quick stir to combine.
- Over medium heat, bring the ingredients to a boil and then immediately turn the heat to low. For the creamiest porridge, continuously stir with the back of a wooden spoon or a spurtle (if you have one) for approximately 10-12 minutes. Maintain low heat, aiming for a gentle simmer throughout.
- Once the consistency of the porridge is to your liking, remove it from the heat.
- Spoon into a serving bowl. Top with peanut butter, honey and a sliced ripe banana. Add a little milk if you wish.
- For extra crunch, add a sprinkling of chopped peanuts. Enjoy warm.
