Instructions

  1. Position an oven rack about 6 inches below the broiler element. Preheat the broiler in your oven.
  2. Using kitchen shears or a sharp knife, cut through the top shell of each lobster tail lengthwise to expose the meat. Gently loosen the meat from the shel. You can leave it in the shell or lift it upward, and rest it on top of the shell for presentation. Place the prepared lobster tails on an ungreased baking sheet.
  3. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl by microwaving in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Spoon or brush the mixture generously over the exposed lobster meat.
  4. Place the baking sheet on the prepared oven rack. Broil for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the meat is opaque and no longer translucent, and the internal temperature reaches 140°F. Watch closely to avoid overcooking.
  5. Serve immediately with lemon wedges. Squeeze the lemon juice over the lobster meat just before eating for added flavor.

Notes

  • Choosing Lobster Tails: For even cooking, use lobster tails that are 4-6 ounces. Thaw frozen tails in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Butter Sauce: Feel free to make extra garlic butter for dipping—it’s the perfect complement to the rich lobster meat.
