Instructions

  1. Preheat one side of the Cuisinart 360° Griddle Cooking Center to medium, and the other side to low.
  2. On half of the medium-heat side, add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking up the meat as it cooks, until no longer pink, around 5 minutes. At the same time, on the other half of the medium-heat side, add the olive oil followed by the peppers and onions. Cook until the peppers are soft and onions are browned, around 5 minutes. Add the garlic to the veggies and cook for an additional one minute.
  3. Spray the inside of each slider bun with cooking spray and lay on the low-heat side of the griddle to gently toast.
  4. Stir together the cooked Italian sausage and veggies, then add the marinara sauce and toss gently to combine. Cook until heated through, then scoop mixture onto each slider half and line the low-heat side with each sandwich. Sprinkle with torn basil, then add the mozzarella and parmesan and cover the griddle with the lid to allow the cheese to melt. Once melted, remove from griddle and serve!

Notes

  • *feel free to use hot italian sausage if you prefer to kick up the heat, or cut sausage links instead.
  • *I recommend using a steak-style bun as they hold up against the moisture of sloppy joes, but brioche sliders are also delicious, as are ciabatta rolls.
