Easy Tomato Pasta Sauce
Description
Easy Tomato Pasta Sauce merges simple ingredients like olive oil, onion, garlic, fresh basil, dried oregano, and passata to form a flavorful sauce. Adding balsamic vinegar introduces a slight acidity that enhances the natural tomato sweetness. The sauce simmers gently, allowing the herbs and seasonings to infuse, creating a balanced and approachable flavor profile without overwhelming spices.
The sauce has a smooth texture from the passata and tender cooked onion and garlic, making it suitable for tossing with cooked spaghetti or as a foundation for richer dishes like spaghetti bolognese or pizza bases. Its versatility comes from being a straightforward tomato sauce that can be easily adapted.
Finished sauce pairs well with a range of pastas and can be topped with parmesan or vegan alternatives to add a salty, creamy element.
It freezes well, so it can be made in larger batches and kept for longer periods. The sauce can also be modified by adding cooked vegetables or meat, though cooking times will vary depending on additions.
