Instructions

Air Fryer Method

  1. First, preheat air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly spray air fryer basket or pan with nonstick spray.
  2. Wash and pat dry potatoes. Slice each potato into fries. The thicker they are, the longer they take to cook.
  3. Add fries to large bowl. Toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. Toss until fries are completely coated.
  4. Arrange fries in one even layer on air fryer pan.
  5. Air fry for 10 minutes. Then, carefully flip fries. Air fry another 10 minutes or until crispy on the outside and fork tender on the inside.

Oven Method

  1. First, preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a baking pan with nonstick spray.
  2. Wash and pat dry potatoes. Slice each potato into fries. The thicker they are, the longer they take to cook.
  3. Add fries to large bowl. Toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. Toss until fries are completely coated.
  4. Arrange fries in one even layer on baking pan.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. Then, carefully flip fries. Bake for another 15 minutes or until crispy on the outside and fork tender on the inside.

Notes

  • Japanese sweet potatoes have a burgundy purple skin and white insides.  I buy them from Whole Foods.
  • Avocado oil or melted coconut oil can replace olive oil.
  • See blog post above for different flavor combinations.
  • Air fry or bake until fries are crispy on the outside and fork tender on the inside.
  • To test if they are done, take a fork and pierce middle of fries.  If they are tender, they are done.  If they are firm or hard, continue cooking.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
