Ground Beef Curry (Beef Keema Curry)
Description
The recipe begins with cooking chopped onions, garlic, and ginger in neutral oil until softened, creating a fragrant base. Spices including cumin, curry powder, and optional cayenne pepper are added briefly to release their aromas. Ground beef is then browned in the mixture and lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. Chopped tomatoes introduce acidity and body, followed by pouring in chicken stock to provide moisture for simmering. Soy sauce enhances savory depth just before adding frozen peas, which cook through in the last few minutes. Finally, chopped cilantro is folded in for freshness.
The resulting curry offers a balanced flavor profile featuring tender, well-seasoned beef and gently spiced sauce. Its moist and slightly saucy consistency makes it versatile to serve over steamed basmati rice or alongside warm naan bread, complementing the dish’s texture and flavor complexity.
This recipe contains straightforward steps focused on layering flavors by gradual addition of aromatics, spices, and liquids. It harnesses commonly available pantry ingredients to deliver a classic keema-style curry that can fit into various meal contexts.
