Ground Turkey Pasta Sauce

Ground Turkey Pasta Sauce is a tomato-based sauce richly flavored with sautéed ground turkey, onion, and garlic. Diced and crushed tomatoes combine with tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and fresh herbs to create a hearty sauce simmered to blend flavors. The sauce offers a balanced texture with tender meat and aromatic herbs, ideal for serving over hot pasta.

Description

This sauce recipe starts by browning ground turkey with diced onions and minced garlic until fully cooked, then draining excess fat if necessary. The addition of diced and crushed canned tomatoes, along with tomato paste, water, Italian seasoning, sugar, and salt, creates a tomato-rich base. The sauce is brought to a boil and simmered uncovered for about an hour, allowing it to thicken and develop flavor.

Fresh parsley and basil are stirred in near the end of cooking, imparting fresh herbal notes. The mixture is served hot over pasta, providing a well-rounded meal component with ground turkey protein and acid-balanced tomato flavors complemented by herbs and seasoning.

Notes suggest substituting other ground meats as desired and adding vegetables by quickly pan-frying them before simmering in the sauce. The recipe freezes well and can be made in larger batches, offering practical meal prep advantages.
