Ham and Cheese Sliders

These Ham and Cheese Sliders layer thinly sliced deli honey ham and Swiss cheese between sweet Hawaiian rolls, brushed with a savory butter, mustard, honey, and herb mixture. The sliders are baked covered then uncovered for a golden finish, making them warm, soft, and flavorful sandwich bites.

Description

The recipe begins by slicing Hawaiian rolls horizontally but keeping the tops and bottoms intact to maintain structure. A buttery mixture including melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, dried parsley, onion powder, and garlic powder is prepared and brushed evenly over the rolls before assembly. The bottom layer is evenly covered with sliced ham, followed by Swiss cheese, another layer of ham, and topped with the roll halves.

The assembled sliders are covered with foil and baked at 350°F to warm the ingredients and melt the cheese gently. They are then baked uncovered to allow the tops to brown slightly. The result is soft, slightly sweet rolls filled with savory ham and cheese and a subtly spiced buttery glaze. These sliders are ideal for gatherings or easy dinners.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted, salted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon parsley dried
  • teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 package hawaiian rolls 12 rolls, sweet
  • ½ pound deli honey ham cooked, thinly sliced
  • ½ pound swiss cheese thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, mustard, honey, dried parsley, onion powder and garlic powder.
  3. Do not pull the rolls apart; simply use a large serrated knife to slice the rolls in half as you would slice a bagel, separating the tops from the bottoms. Place the layer of bottoms into the prepared baking pan, cut side up.
  4. Layer half of the ham onto the rolls. Next, layer the Swiss cheese over the ham, and top with remaining ham slices. Place the layer of tops onto the sandwiches.
  5. Brush all of the butter mixture evenly over the rolls then cover with foil. At this point you can cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours, or bake immediately.
  6. When you’re ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  7. Bake covered sliders in the preheated oven for 12 minutes. Remove the foil from the baking pan, return the sliders to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
