Healthier 20-Minute Skillet Lasagna
Description
The recipe starts by boiling bowtie pasta to al dente and setting it aside. Ground beef and diced onion are sautéed in olive oil until the beef is cooked through and the onions softened. Minced garlic and dried oregano are added for fragrance before tomato sauce is poured in with cooked pasta, seasoning to taste with salt and pepper. This mixture is heated together to blend flavors. Fresh chopped basil and grated Parmesan cheese are added at serving for a bright herbal note and creamy finish.
This approach reduces cooking time by combining pasta and sauce in a skillet instead of baking a traditional layered lasagna. The use of lean ground beef provides protein with less fat, and fresh basil adds an aromatic complement. It can be garnished further with additional cheese or herbs to personal preference.
Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to five days and freeze for as long as four months, making it a practical meal prep choice.
