Instructions
Prepare the Donuts
- Preheat Air Fryer to 350°F. If you do not have an air fryer see notes below.
- Carefully open the can of biscuits. Separate each biscuit and place on a cutting board or clean kitchen counter. Roll out the biscuits using a rolling pin or cup until slightly bigger than your cookie cutter.
- Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut each biscuit.Tip: collect all of the leftover cut pieces and roll them together to cut 1 or 2 more hearts out of the leftover pieces. Or roll into small balls to create donut holes.
- Place the donuts in the preheated Air Fryer, space them apart by about 1" as they will expand when cooking. Spray the donuts with cooking spray. Air Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up (watch them closely as they cook quickly).
- Place the cooked donuts on a cooling rack and allow to fully cool before decorating. Please do not glaze the donuts while they are still warm as the icing will melt right off the donuts.
Fill the Donuts
- As the donuts cook, microwave the jam in a small bowl and stir. Remove or mash any large pieces of fruit into very small pieces. Transfer the jam to a piping bag or Ziploc bag and cut a small hole in one corner.
- When the donuts are cooled, use a chopstick or the handle of a spoon or fork to pierce the center or the donuts to make space for the jelly filling. Be careful not to pierce right through the donut.
- Use the Ziploc bag or piping bag to fill the donuts, apply a small amount of pressure to squeeze the jelly into the donuts and then pull the tip of the bag out of the donut.
Decorate the Donuts
- Glazed Donuts - in a small bowl stir together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and a few drops of red food coloring. Adjust the color to your liking. Stir until the icing is thick. If the glaze is too runny, add a teaspoon at a time of additional icing sugar. If the glaze is too thick, add a very small splash of milk.
- Powdered Sugar Donuts - in a small bowl add the ½ cup of powdered sugar. Place a donut in the icing sugar and gently shake the bowl to coat all sides of the donut.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Instead of Air Frying the donuts you can pan fry them in oil for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and puffed. You can also bake the donuts according to the package directions of the biscuit dough.
