Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons oil vegetable or canola
  • ½ cup onions chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • ½ teaspoon dried mustard
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • ¼ cup crushed pineapple use pineapple and the juice
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon liquid smoke optional
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. 
  2. Add onions and cook until translucent. 
  3. Add garlic, dry mustard, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper. Cook 1-2 minutes longer. 
  4. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer. 
  5. Simmer for 20 minutes, or until the sauce is darker and reduced. 
  6. Blend, if desired. 
  7. Keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.
