Homemade Margarita Mix
Description
The mix starts with juicing fresh limes to yield one cup of juice. Agave syrup and a pinch of salt are stirred in to balance tartness and enhance flavor. The mix can be stored in the refrigerator for about two weeks or frozen in ice cube trays for longer storage. When making drinks, the mix is combined with tequila, triple sec, and ice, then served salted or unsalted according to preference.
This base is versatile for both single servings and pitchers, allowing consistent margarita flavor with fresh ingredients rather than relying on commercial mixes. The salt in the mix helps enhance the overall taste without overpowering.
Freezing the mix in cubes allows for easy portioning and quick cocktail preparation. Adding ice during mixing can dilute the strong flavor slightly, making it more balanced depending on personal taste.
Ingredients
- 1 cup lime juice freshly squeezed
- 3 tablespoons agave more or less to taste
- salt pinch
