How to Freeze Fresh Parsley (Quick and Easy Tips)
Description
To freeze fresh parsley, start by thoroughly washing the leaves. Dry them carefully using a salad spinner or paper towels to remove all moisture, which helps prevent freezer burn. Chop the parsley to the desired size, often avoiding thick stem portions for better texture when thawed.
Place the chopped parsley in a freezer-safe container or bag, trying to remove as much air as possible to preserve quality. Optionally, placing wax paper over the parsley inside the container can further protect it, especially if you plan to store it beyond a month or two. Frozen parsley is handy for adding fresh herb flavor to recipes without waste.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch parsley fresh
Instructions
- Just wash the parsley leaves, and either spin them in a salad spinner and/or dry with paper towel.
- Next, chop the parsley to your liking. I use a knife or mezzaluna type chopper (I don't like mine chopped too finely).
- Once you've chopped all the parsley (I leave off the thick part of the stems), put it in a container or freezer bag, and freeze.
Notes
- Dry parsley thoroughly after washing to prevent freezer ice crystals.
- Chop to preferred size, leaving out thick stem parts for better texture.
- Use a freezer-safe container or bag, removing excess air to maintain quality.
- Place wax paper over parsley if storing longer than one to two months to protect from air exposure.
