Keema Rice
Description
Keema Rice features minced meat cooked with cumin seeds, finely chopped onions, garlic, and ginger, enriched by coriander powder, turmeric, and chili powder. After the spices meld with the browned mince, frozen peas add a subtle sweetness and texture. The soaked basmati rice is then added and simmered with water until fully cooked, allowing the flavors to infuse the rice. Fresh coriander is sprinkled on top for a fresh herbal note.
The dish balances the warmth of spices with the natural sweetness of peas, and the rice absorbs the meat’s savory juices, creating a unified flavor. The method involves browning the meat fully and gently cooking the rice in the same pan, which keeps the dish moist and flavorful.
Keema Rice serves well as a main course, providing protein and carbohydrates in one dish. It can be accompanied by yogurt or a simple salad for added freshness. This recipe works well for family meals or meal prep, offering a hearty and satisfying plate.
Adjust seasoning including the chili powder to your personal taste. If the rice isn't fully cooked after the indicated time, adding a bit more water and continuing to cook ensures proper texture. Various meats like chicken or turkey can be used as alternatives to beef or lamb as preferred.
