Description

This mix consists of raw nuts ground to a coarse powder combined with sugar and a blend of aromatic spices including cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, fennel seeds, ginger, black pepper, and poppy seeds. Bright orange saffron strands are added to impart their color and distinct fragrance. The mixture is stored in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

When preparing the beverage, two tablespoons or more of the mix is blended into a cup of non-dairy milk, such as coconut milk, to produce a smooth, flavorful drink.   • 2 tbsp pistachio raw
  • 1 tbsp cashew nuts raw
  • 3 tbsp sugar or add sweetener of choice later
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • 1/8 tsp fennel seeds optional
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp poppy seeds
  • 8 to 10 saffron strands

Instructions

  1. Grind the nuts to a coarse powder. Add sugar and the rest of the ingredients and grind until well blended.
  2. Store in an airtight container.
  3. Blend 2 Tbsp or more of the mix with a cup of non dairy milk. Use a blender. Taste and adjust sweet if needed. Chill the blended mixture for a few minutes so the saffron gets some time to infuse the drink. Serve as is or with a dollop of whipped coconut cream.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, lightly toast raw nuts in a skillet for 1-2 minutes before grinding and cooling.
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric to the mix for enhanced color.
  • Serve chilled by adding ice to create an iced masala milk variant.
