LEMON HONEY GLAZED SALMON

Lemon Honey Glazed Salmon features skinless, boneless fillets coated in a seasoned flour mixture that creates a light crust. Pan-seared with butter and garlic, the salmon cooks to a golden brown before being finished with a honey and lemon butter glaze that caramelizes over the fish. The glaze balances sweetness and tang with savory hints from the garlic and spices, offering a harmonious flavor profile. The dish can be garnished with fresh parsley or lemon slices for brightness.

Description

LEMON HONEY GLAZED SALMON uses salmon fillets seasoned with a combination of flour, paprika, garlic, mustard powders, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful crust when seared. The fish is cooked in a skillet with olive oil and butter until bronzed on one side, then flipped briefly. A honey and garlic butter sauce is then added, reduced to a caramel-like glaze, and brightened with fresh lemon juice to coat the salmon. This method delivers crispy edges and a tender interior while the glaze adds a glossy, savory-sweet finish.

The glaze melds honey's sweetness with the acidity of lemon juice, cut by the earthiness of garlic and the warmth of paprika and mustard spices. Cooking times are brief to preserve the salmon's moist texture. When plated, additional parsley or chives add a fresh herbal note and a pop of color, with optional lemon slices enhancing presentation and flavor.

This salmon pairs well with simple sides like steamed vegetables, rice, or salad to complement the rich glaze without overwhelming it. The sauce, spooned over the top, makes it a distinctive main course for a home-cooked meal.

The recipe notes that nutrition is calculated assuming all sauce is consumed, highlighting that the butter and honey contribute meaningfully to the dish's richness. Attention to seasoning balance and timing during glaze reduction ensures the sauce does not burn while developing its characteristic caramelized sheen.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 salmon 180g/6oz each, skinless and boneless, fillets
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 50 g / 3.5 tbsp butter , salted
  • 1 garlic finely chopped, large clove
  • 2 ½ tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice , fresh

Seasoning:

  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp mustard powder (not critical)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Garnishes (optional):

  • parsley finely chopped, or chives
  • lemon slices

Instructions

  1. Place the Seasoning ingredients in a small dish and mix.
  2. Coat salmon in the Seasoning, shaking off excess well.
  3. Place oil and about 1 tsp of the butter in a large non stick skillet over medium high heat. Once the butter is melted, add the salmon.
  4. Cook salmon for 3 minutes, or until it’s a beautiful bronzed golden brown. Turn and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add remaining butter, garlic and honey. Swirl the mixture around the pan as the butter melts.
  6. Simmer for 1 minute - the honey butter mixture will start to bubble like caramel and turn golden. Add lemon juice, shake pan to disperse. Taste sauce – adjust salt, pepper and lemon to taste.
  7. Turn salmon over to coat in the sauce, then remove from heat immediately. Place salmon on plates and drizzle over sauce. Garnish with parsley and fresh lemon, if desired

Notes

  • Ensure to shake off excess seasoning flour for a light crust without clumps.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for a bright, balanced glaze flavor.
  • Carefully watch the honey butter sauce as it caramelizes to prevent burning.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or chives for visual appeal and herbaceous contrast.
  • Serve immediately after coating the salmon with glaze to maintain sauce gloss.
