Limoncello Spritz (A Lemon Prosecco Cocktail)
Description
Limoncello Spritz blends the crisp bubbles of Prosecco with the sweet, zesty depth of limoncello and fresh lemon juice. The addition of lemon sparkling water lightens the cocktail while complementing its citrus profile. The preparation layers ingredients directly in wine glasses, allowing the fresh lemon slices and mint sprigs to infuse aroma as you stir. The cocktail's balance of sparkling dryness, citrus brightness, and sweet lemon liqueur creates an inviting and nuanced drink.
The drink is served in large wine glasses, garnished with lemon slices and mint, making it an appealing beverage option for casual entertaining or as a palate-cleansing aperitif. It's well suited to those appreciating sparkling, lemon-forward cocktails with moderate alcohol content.
For best results, confirm your glass size to measure ingredients properly or prepare the cocktail in a pitcher for easy serving. To maintain Prosecco's bubbles during storage, a metal spoon handle-down in the bottle stored in the fridge can help preserve effervescence. Prosecco can also be frozen into ice cubes to chill without dilution.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle prosecco
- 1 can Limoncello La Croix or another lemon sparkling water
- 6-8 oz limoncello
- 2 lemon plural
- mint for garnish, leaves
Instructions
- Pop that bottle of Prosecco, friend! Then divide it between 3 large wine glasses (~8oz of bubbly each).
- Then, pour Limoncello into each glass; ~2.5oz of limoncello per cocktail, more or less to your liking.
- Juice one lemon into a small cup or bowl. Divide juice evenly between each cocktail.
- Lastly, top each spritz with the sparkling water. One can of sparkling water is to be divided between the three cocktails.
- Cut the second lemon into slices and put 2 lemon slices in each glass - make sure there are no seeds.
- Stir each drink and garnish with a lemon peel and fresh sprig of mint. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Measure glass capacity beforehand or prepare the cocktail in a pitcher to ensure balanced proportions.
- Freeze Prosecco in ice cube trays to chill drinks without watering them down.
- Store opened Prosecco bottles with a metal spoon handle-down inside the bottle in the refrigerator to help keep carbonation.
