Loaded Cheesy Garlic Bread
Description
Loaded Cheesy Garlic Bread elevates a simple French bread by topping it with a rich blend of softened butter, mayonnaise, and minced garlic mixed thoroughly with shredded Monterey Jack cheese and flavorful additions such as sliced olives, chopped turkey pepperoni, mushrooms, and green onions. The bread is baked at a moderate temperature until the cheese melts fully and the edges become slightly crispy, resulting in a harmonious combination of creamy texture, garlicky richness, and balanced topping flavors.
The inclusion of mayonnaise with butter in the base spread adds moistness and a gentle tang, complementing the savory toppings. This bread is ideal as an appetizer or a side dish alongside salads, soups, or pasta. It can also be prepared ahead by freezing half before baking, then reheated later while maintaining its oozy texture and fresh taste.
To keep the bread fresh and at its best, bake only half the loaf if you plan to serve it over multiple occasions. The recipe is flexible to include any pizza-style toppings, making it customizable to taste preferences.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread cut in half lengthwise
- 1/2 cup butter softened (not melted)
- 3 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 3 cups Monterey jack cheese shredded
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can olive sliced
- 20 lices pepperoni chopped (again, we like to use turkey pepperoni)
- 1 cup mushrooms sliced, then roughly chopped
- 2 green onions sliced and chopped
- Any other pizza toppings you like to taste
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients (except for the bread) using a spatula or wooden spoon.
- When everything is mixed together really well, spread the mixture evenly over the bread and bake at 325-degrees for about 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread is slightly crispy. Cut up into individual slices and serve.
- When we made this, we froze half of it before baking and saved it for later. It heats up GREAT after it has been frozen!
Notes
- For best texture and taste, bake only half the bread at a time, keeping the rest frozen until needed.
- When reheating frozen portions, the bread retains its melted, gooey cheese and crispy edges well.
