Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- ½ onion
- 1 oz tomato sauce
- 1 can of diced tomatoes 15 oz
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt or can use garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 oz pepperonis (approximately 12-14 slices).
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and spray a 9X13 baking pan with non stick cooking spray.
- Lay the chicken breasts out evenly in the baking pan and top with the onions.
- Then in a small bowl, stir together the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
- Pour the mixture over the chicken in the baking pan. Then bake it for 25-30 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
- Then top with the shredded mozzarella cheese and the sliced pepperonis.
- Bake for 5 more minutes in the oven to melt the cheese.
- Let the chicken set for 5-10 minutes and then serve warm. Enjoy!
Notes
- *You can easily add your favorite pizza toppings to this pizza chicken recipe. I love adding green peppers, black olives, ground sausage or hamburger as well.
- *Refrigerate the leftovers in an air tight container for up to 5 days.
