Matcha Overnight Oats
Description
This recipe mixes rolled oats and chia seeds with yogurt, milk, vanilla extract, pinch of salt, matcha powder, and maple syrup to create a creamy, lightly sweetened oat mixture. The mixture is stirred until smooth and refrigerated for several hours or overnight, allowing the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquids and soften. This process results in a thick, pudding-like texture with a subtle bitterness from the matcha balanced by the sweetness of maple syrup.
The final dish can be topped with fruit or berries to add freshness and flavor contrast. It is convenient for make-ahead breakfasts or snacks and does not require cooking. The matcha gives a distinctive color and mild grassy note, making it unique among overnight oat variations.
Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 4 tablespoons chia seeds
- 4 teaspoons matcha powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 cups milk
Instructions
- Add the rolled oats, chia seeds, yogurt, milk, vanilla extract, salt, matcha, and maple syrup in a bowl.
- Mix until well combined. Cover and put the mixture into the fridge (or individual containers) for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- When ready to enjoy, top with some chopped fruit or berries, etc, and enjoy!
