Microwave Porridge
Description
This recipe uses rolled oats mixed with milk, honey, and cinnamon, microwaved for five minutes with a midway stir to ensure even cooking and prevent clumps. The cling film cover with a small hole traps steam yet allows release to avoid boil-overs. The oats absorb the liquid, producing a creamy, smooth porridge with sweet and spiced notes from honey and cinnamon respectively.
The porridge texture is soft and creamy, suitable for topping with fruits, nuts, or seeds as desired. Using whole milk contributes to richness, but water is an alternative though it changes flavor and creaminess.
Choose a large enough microwave-safe bowl to contain the porridge expansion during cooking. Adding vanilla extract enhances warmth and aroma if preferred. Using certified gluten-free oats ensures suitability for gluten-sensitive diets.
