Mojitos Pitcher Recipe

This Mojitos Pitcher recipe creates a refreshing cocktail by combining a homemade mint simple syrup with white rum and fresh lime juice. The drink is lightened with club soda and served over ice, making it ideal for serving a group. The mint simple syrup is infused by steeping fresh mint leaves in hot syrup, which imparts a minty sweetness without muddling.

Description

The Mojitos Pitcher begins with a mint simple syrup made by boiling equal parts water and sugar, then steeping fresh mint leaves to extract their flavor. This syrup forms the base for the cocktail along with white rum and freshly squeezed lime juice, stirred together in a large pitcher. When ready to serve, chilled club soda and ice are added to lighten and cool the drink.

The method avoids muddling mint in the glass, instead relying on the syrup for a smooth mint flavor. The cocktail is garnished with fresh mint leaves and lime wedges, enhancing the aroma and presentation. Variations include substituting vodka for rum or creating a virgin version by omitting alcohol and increasing soda or ginger ale for a similar refreshing profile.

This pitcher-style cocktail is convenient for parties or gatherings, allowing easy pouring and consistent flavor for guests. The fresh ingredients and syrup infusion provide a well-balanced mint-lime taste that stays refreshing as the drink is served.

Additional flavor variations such as adding sliced strawberries or coconut cream can be made to customize the mojitos according to preference.

Ingredients

Servings

For the Mint Simple Syrup –

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mint leaf fresh

For the Pitcher of Mojitos –

  • 2 cups white rum
  • 1 ½ cups mint simple syrup
  • 1 ¼ cups lime juice fresh
  • 2 cups club soda
  • ice

Garnishes: additional mint leaves and sliced limes

Instructions

For the Mint Simple Syrup:

  1. Set a small saucepot over high heat. Add the water and sugar to the pot. Stir and bring to a boil. Once boiling, stir, then remove from heat. Add the mint leaves and allow the simple syrup to steep and cool for 30 minutes. You can choose to leave-in or strain-out out the mint leaves. I like to keep them in because they have a softer texture than fresh mint leaves. No muddling required!

To Make a Pitcher of Mojitos:

  1. Set out a large pitcher. Pour in the rum, mint simple syrup, and lime juice. Stir to combine.
  2. When ready to serve, stir in the club soda and fill the pitcher with ice.
  3. Garnish glasses with fresh mint leaves and lime rounds or wedges. Pour the mojito into glasses and serve.

Notes

  • Replace white rum with vodka for a different but still refreshing mojito variation.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, use sparkling soda, ginger ale, or extra club soda instead of rum.
  • Add fresh sliced strawberries or coconut cream to the pitcher to introduce a fruity or creamy twist.
