Murgh Kali Mirch

Murgh Kali Mirch features chicken cooked in a spiced yogurt sauce enriched with black pepper, crushed chili, cumin seeds, and fresh green chilies. Sautéed onions, garlic, and ginger paste build a fragrant base, which combines with the tangy yogurt and spices to create a bold, peppery Indian chicken dish best served with naan bread.

Description

In this recipe, chicken is cooked starting with heated olive oil, followed by aromatics including ginger and garlic pastes and finely diced onions. The onions are softened on medium heat before adding chicken pieces to brown briefly. Seasonings including salt, black pepper, and crushed red chilies are introduced next, enhancing heat and earthiness.

Yogurt is added to create a creamy sauce that cooks with the spices and chicken, tenderizing the meat while infusing spicy, tangy flavors. Fresh coriander, cumin seeds, and green chilies are stirred in near the end for fresh herbal and pungent accents.

The dish pairs well with homemade naan, balancing its rich pepper and spice notes with soft, warm bread that can be used to scoop up the flavorful sauce.
