Orange and Thyme Gin and Tonic
Description
The Orange and Thyme Gin and Tonic features a base of gin combined with fresh thyme and a long strip of orange zest, which are muddled or shaken together to release their essential oils. The infused gin is strained into glasses over ice and topped with chilled tonic water. Additional fresh strips and sprigs garnish the drink, enhancing its aromatic complexity. This method produces a fragrant and visually appealing cocktail with herbal and citrus highlights.
The preparation highlights gradual flavor release and emphasizes fresh ingredients for optimal aroma. The combination is balanced and refreshing without overpowering botanicals.
This G&T variation suits warm weather occasions and pairs well with light appetizers or as a casual evening drink.
Using fresh thyme is preferred, but dried thyme can be substituted if strained carefully. The ice chills the drink while diluting it slightly as it melts, softening the flavors for a smooth finish.
