Original Piña Colada Recipe
Report
The original recipe of the famous tropical drink, the first Piña Colada cocktail was created at the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico and is made with silver rum, coconut cream and fresh pineapple juice.
Share:
Ingredients
- 8 ounces silver or gold rum (such as Don Q)
- 4 ounces coconut cream
- 4 ounces heavy cream
- 24 ounces fresh pineapple juice (or crushed pineapple)
- 2 cups ice
- cocktail cherries and umbrellas (optional garnishes)
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and puree until smooth before pouring in to four glasses. Alternatively, you can also use a cocktail shaker and serve over the rocks.
Notes
- In Puerto Rico they love using silver or gold Don Q rum. This first version was actually shaken instead of blended because blenders didn’t yet exist.
