Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds American cheese
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 4 to 5 ounces canned green chilies with juice
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 5 teaspoons minced garlic divided use
- 1/2 cup diced ripe tomatoes seeds discarded
Instructions
- Place the cheese and milk in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until the cheese is melted and the mixture is well blended.
- Add the chilies, garlic salt, onion, and 3 teaspoons of garlic. Cook and stir until the onions are translucent. Then add 2 teaspoons of garlic and cook for about 1 minute. Remove from the heat.
- Mix in the tomatoes and serve with tortilla chips for dipping.
Notes
- If you would like the queso to be thinner, add additional milk or cream.
- Reheat the queso in a pot on the stovetop.
