This Pomodoro sauce recipe is so easy to make at home and is a fantastic, versatile sauce to have on hand for easy dinner prep. This sauce comes together in under 45 minutes!

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 6 garlic crushed, cloves
- 56 oz (1.6kg) whole tomatoes canned
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1-2 tsp black pepper
- 1-2 tsp sugar
- large handful basil fresh
Instructions
- Blend the tomatoes in a food processor or blender until smooth.
- In a large pot set over medium-heat, sauté the onion and garlic in the olive oil until soft and fragrant.
- Stir in the blended tomatoes, basil, sugar, pepper and salt.
- Bring to a simmer then reduce the heat and allow to cook with the lid ajar, for 30 minutes until the sauce has reduced slightly.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary then serve.
