Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 hot dogs or as many hot dogs as you need to cook
  • 1 cup broth
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the hot dogs into the pressure coooker.
  2. Add 1 Cup broth, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder and ½ teaspoon pepper.
  3. Close the lid and set to high pressure. Turn on the heat and allow to come to full pressure. As soon as pressure cooker reaches full pressure, turn the heat off and release the pressure valve. Serve hot.

Notes

  • PRO TIP: If you like a sweeter hot dog, you can add a chopped up apple, 1 cup of apple juice, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder and ½ teaspoon onion powder. Makes for a lovely flavor.
  • Always use all beef hot dogs, you'll find that they taste better and are often nearly the same price as other kinds of hot dogs.
  • We enjoy Nathans or Ballpark Weenies the best.
  • Look at your pack of hot dogs and count how many there are in the package. You'll find that these days, it isn't a given that there will be 8 in the package and you want to make sure that you have enough buns.
  • Think about toppings for your hot dogs. You'll want to consider ketchup, mayo, mustard, slaw, chili, onions, cheese or other toppings that might be unique to your area.
  • Consider your buns as well. If you look in the bread section, you can sometimes find buns with a slit on the top instead of the side and then makes holding the weenie and the toppings much easier!
  • The broth in the pressure cooker helps the pressure cooker to come to the correct pressure and it is what cooks the dogs. As it does so, the steam enters the hot dogs and adds flavor. That's why we use broth or beer and why we add seasonings.
  • You can add a bit of cayenne if you like spicy hot dogs.
