Rooh Afza Sharbat | Rooh Afza Drink (Ruabja Sharbat)
Description
This Rooh Afza Sharbat recipe begins by soaking sweet basil seeds in water until they swell, creating a gelatinous texture. The seeds are drained and combined with cold or room temperature water and Rooh Afza syrup, a concentrated, rose-flavored herbal syrup. Optional ice cubes chill the drink further. Stirring mixes the syrup evenly, balancing sweetness according to taste.
The resulting sharbat carries a bright pink color and a fragrant floral flavor from the syrup, combined with the subtle crunch and slipperiness of the soaked sabja seeds. The basil seeds add a contrasting texture that is often enjoyed in Indian and Pakistani beverages.
Rooh Afza Sharbat is typically served chilled and can be consumed immediately or after refrigeration to deepen flavors. It can also be adapted by using milk or almond milk instead of water for a creamier version, and the syrup can be added to desserts or smoothies as well.

- 3.5 cups water - cold or at room temperature
- 4 to 5 tablespoon Rooh Afza syrup or add as required
- ½ tablespoon sweet basil seeds (sabja seeds), optional
