Notes

  • Picking the Right Cheese: When you think of saganaki, cheese is the star of the show! So, getting the cheese right is crucial. You can use kefalotyri cheese or graviera. If not available, pecorino would do.
  • Don’t Forget the Splash of Lemon Juice: Adding that splash of lemon juice is a game-changer! The fried cheese saganaki brings that rich, salty goodness, but a little squeeze of lemon juice takes it to the next level by balancing out those flavors. Don't forget to give your sizzling cheese a good squeeze of lemon just before you serve it up hot!
  • Serve Right Away: Cheese is all about that gooey, rich goodness, right? And when it comes to traditional Greek saganaki you have got to serve it up sizzling hot and crispy to get that perfect texture and irresistible flavor!
  • Get the Pan Nice and Hot: Greek saganaki is all about that dreamy crispy exterior, right? So, to get it just right, you have got to make sure that the skillet is preheated. That step ensures that crunchy outer layer without overcooking the cheese.
