Sauteed Green Beans with Bacon and Water Chestnuts

Make restaurant-worthy green beans by adding a soy sauce glaze, crispy bacon, and water chestnuts. It's easy to do and ready in about 20 minutes!

  • 16 ounces Bacon
  • 2 pounds fresh green beans ends trimmed
  • 1 (8 ounce can) sliced water chestnuts drained
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves minced garlic 
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop 16 ounces bacon into bite-sized pieces. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium-high heat until crispy, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and drain all but 1–2 tablespoons of the bacon grease.
  2. Add 2 pounds fresh green beans, 1 (8 ounce can) sliced water chestnuts, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 cloves minced garlic, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper to the skillet.
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes, until the green beans are tender but still crisp, and the soy sauce has reduced slightly, coating the green beans.
  4. Return the bacon to the skillet and toss to combine. Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For softer green beans, simply cook for longer, or use frozen green beans which start off softer once thawed.
