Ingredients
- 1 kg Mixed Diced Game Meat
- 1 Medium Swede/Rutabaga
- 6 medium carrots
- 200 g mushrooms
- 1 medium white onion
- 880 ml Cans Guinness
- 3 Instant Pot Beef Stock Cubes
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tsp dried parsley
- 1 Tbsp bouquet garni
- salt & pepper
Kitchen Gadgets
- Slow cooker
Instructions
- Peel and slice the onion and chop the bacon into chunks. Place the slow cooker on sauté, or onto the stove depending on your slow cooker. Add the olive oil and let it sizzle and sauté as you prep.
- While you wait prep the veggies and peel and dice the carrots and swede and quarter the mushrooms. When the onions have some colour and the bacon is starting to crisp, add in the game meat and stir and allow it to brown on all sides.
- After the browning of the game meat, cancel sauté and then pour in the beer and mix and scrape the edges.
- Add all other ingredients to the slow cooker, mix and place the lid on the slow cooker. Slow cook on high for 4 hours.
- After 4 hours do a fork test to make sure the carrots are fork tender. Stir and then serve.
Notes
- Mash. We recommend serving this slow cooked game casserole with some mashed potatoes. We also recommend adding in a little mash to the casserole to make it creamier.
