Smoked Salmon and Avocado Pizza

Smoked Salmon and Avocado Pizza uses a whole wheat pizza base topped with a garlic-dill cream cheese spread, thinly sliced red onions, and melted mozzarella cheese. After a brief baking, it is finished with slices of smoked salmon, thin avocado slices, fresh rocket leaves, and a drizzle of lemon pepper. The combination balances creamy, smoky, fresh, and tangy flavors with varied textures from the soft avocado to melted cheese and crisp greens.

Description

The pizza preparation begins by mixing cream cheese with fresh dill and crushed garlic to create a flavorful spread. This is applied to the pizza base, which is then drizzled with garlic-infused olive oil. Thinly sliced red onions and mozzarella cheese are layered on top and baked at 200℃ (390℉) for about 10 minutes until the cheese melts and the crust crisps slightly.

Once baked, the pizza is topped with chilled smoked salmon slices, thin avocado slices, and fresh baby rocket leaves. Lemon pepper seasoning adds brightness, and an optional extra sprinkle of mozzarella can be added and baked briefly to warm the toppings slightly. This method preserves the delicate textures and flavors of salmon and avocado without overcooking them.

This pizza offers a fresh alternative to traditional tomato-based pies, suitable as a light meal or appetizer. The recipe notes that the nutrition information is calculated per slice based on six slices, useful for portion control or dietary considerations.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese low fat/fat free
  • 1 tablespoon dill finely chopped, fresh
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 base whole wheat pizza base prepared), or flour tortilla, store bought
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil with garlic; drizzle
  • ½ large red onion finely sliced
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese light/reduced fat, grated
  • 3.5 oz smoked salmon
  • ½ large avocado sliced thinly
  • 1 handful rocket fresh baby
  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese extra light/reduced fat, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200℃ | 390℉.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese with the dill and the crushed garlic. Mix well.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil onto the pizza base and spread with the cream cheese mixture. Top with the onion rings and the mozzarella cheese and bake in the oven for 10 minutes or until the mozzarella has melted through.
  4. Remove from oven; top with the salmon slices, avocado slices and rocket/arugula leaves. Sprinkle with lemon pepper and serve, or top with the (extra) cheese and place back into the oven to warm the avocado and salmon through.

Notes

  • Combine cream cheese, fresh dill, and crushed garlic thoroughly before spreading for even flavor.
  • Bake the pizza just long enough to melt the mozzarella and slightly crisp the base, about 10 minutes at 200℃.
  • Add smoked salmon, avocado, and rocket leaves after baking to maintain their fresh textures and flavors.
  • Nutrition information is provided per slice based on dividing the pizza into six servings.
