  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins optional

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18 minutes, or until rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  2. Stir milk, sugar, and salt into the cooked rice. Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and raisins if using. Serve warm or chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
