Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Add the ground beef to a skillet. Cook over medium heat, breaking into crumbles as you go until mostly browned. Add onions and cook until tender. Dump into a strainer and drain (drain well so the dough doesn't get soggy!)
  3. Remove from heat. Stir in the tomato paste, taco seasoning and salt.
  4. Grease a baking sheet (can also line with parchment paper for easy clean up). Spread dough onto the greased baking sheet and stretch into a large rectangle (about the size of the sheet pan or 9x13-inch).
  5. Scoop beef mixture onto the dough leaving about 2 inches on all four sides.
  6. With clean scissors, make 1-inch cuts along the top and bottom of the dough (about 1-2 inches deep).
  7. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  8. Fold the four corners in first. Then alternating from side to side, fold crust strips of dough at an angle across the filling (it’s ok if some overlap or aren’t covered). Brush or spray a little oil over top.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and baked throughrought.
  10. Let cool for 5-10 minutes then slice and serve hot with your favorite taco toppings!

Notes

  • You can also use crescent rolls. If using crescent rolls, press dough to form a rectangle and firmly press perforations to seal before cutting 1-inch strips.
