The Best Swedish Meatballs
Description
The recipe blends ground beef with bread crumbs and aromatic spices such as allspice, nutmeg, parsley, onion, and garlic powder, plus egg, to form flavorful meatballs. Browning them in a butter and olive oil mixture develops a crust and cooks them thoroughly.
The sauce is made by creating a roux from butter and flour, then gradually whisking in beef broth and heavy cream. Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard add depth and slight tang to the creamy, velvety sauce. The meatballs return to the skillet to soak briefly.
This dish pairs well with egg noodles or rice, making a satisfying main course with a blend of warm spices and creamy textures.
The recipe has undergone updates and testing to ensure reliable results and proper doneness. Following the specific ingredient amounts and steps yields consistent quality.
