Turkey Sloppy Joes
Report
Ground turkey simmered in a zesty homemade sloppy joe sauce.
Share:
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 onion finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 green bell pepper diced
- hamburger buns and coleslaw for serving
Sauce
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
Instructions
- Combine turkey, onion, and garlic in large skillet. Cook over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain if needed.
- Add green pepper and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add sauce ingredients, stir, and simmer uncovered until thickened, about 5-6 minutes.
- Spoon over hamburger buns and add coleslaw if desired.
Notes

- If the ground turkey has a lot of liquid, drain before adding sauce ingredients.
- To save time, chop the bell pepper and measure sauce ingredients while the turkey is browning.
- To cook in a slow cooker, brown the turkey per the recipe and add along with all sauce ingredients to a 4qt slow cooker. Cook on low 6-7 hours or high 3-4 hours.
- Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze in freezer bags for up to four months.
