Vanilla Soy Matcha Latte

The Vanilla Soy Matcha Latte blends soy milk warmed with vanilla and maple syrup with bright green matcha powder whisked into hot water. This technique offers a creamy, subtly sweet latte with the earthiness of matcha balanced by the vanilla and maple. The frothy soy milk and carefully whisked matcha create a smooth, comforting drink served warm.

Description

The Vanilla Soy Matcha Latte combines organic soy milk heated to near boiling with vanilla extract and pure maple syrup, which add sweetness and aroma. Separately, matcha powder is whisked into hot water until dissolved, creating a vibrant green, finely suspended tea base.

Pouring the warm soy milk into the matcha produces a creamy, frothy beverage highlights the vegetal flavor of the matcha softened by the milk's smoothness and sweetness from the maple syrup. The gentle heating of the soy milk helps form froth, enhancing the latte texture without curdling.

This latte is ideal as a warm, mildly sweet drink with both caffeine and antioxidants from the matcha. It suits those who prefer plant-based milks and enjoy a delicate but flavorful tea latte. Using good-quality, bright green matcha contributes to a clean, fresh flavor.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 1/4 cup soymilk or plant milk of choice, organic
  • 1 tsp. matcha powder organic
  • 1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup (more/less to desired sweetness)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract pure
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add milk.
  2. Bring to a very light boil, whisking occasionally (this helps create froth).
  3. Then add vanilla and maple syrup. Whisk to combine, then turn off heat.
  4. Meanwhile, heat 1/4 cup water to about 160°F (71°C). In a bowl or wide mug, combine water and matcha. Whisk briskly back and forth to dissolve matcha. (I use a bamboo whisk.)
  5. Carefully pour milk into matcha and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use any grade of matcha powder, ideally organic, with bright green color for best flavor and appearance.
  • Whisk matcha briskly in hot but not boiling water to dissolve fully and avoid lumps.
  • Adjust maple syrup for sweetness to personal taste.
