Vegan Chocolate Sauce (only 3 ingredients!)

This vegan chocolate sauce is quick & easy to prepare, and is perfect over your favorite dairy-free ice cream and desserts.

  • 2 tablespoons almond butter (I like to use homemade, or the Raw Almond Butter from Trader Joe's)
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons maple syrup , to taste
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons hot water , as needed to thin

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the almond butter, cacao powder, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of water. Use a whisk to stir well.
  2. Taste the mixture, and if you want it sweeter, add 1 more tablespoon of maple syrup. If you don't need the added sweetness, add 1 tablespoon of water instead. Whisk again, until a silky smooth chocolate sauce is created. Add more water if you need to thin it out any further.
  3. Serve this sauce right away over your favorite ice cream or dessert. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days, but it will thicken when chilled, so you might need to thin it out with more water before serving it again.
