Virgin Mojito

The Virgin Mojito is a refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail featuring fresh mint leaves, fresh lime juice, granulated sugar, and club soda. Muddling mint and lime releases aromatic oils and juice, while sugar balances tartness. Served over ice and garnished with mint and lime wedge, it offers a crisp, citrusy flavor without alcohol.

Description

This Virgin Mojito mocktail uses fresh spearmint leaves and lime wedges muddled together to release essential oils and juice, forming a fragrant and flavorful base. Granulated sugar is added and muddled further to dissolve slightly and add texture. The mixture is then combined with ice and topped with club soda, providing effervescence and lightness.

The fresh lime offers bright citrus acidity contrasted by cooling herbal notes from the mint. Granulated sugar adds subtle sweetness and a slight texture distinct from syrup or liquid sweeteners. The club soda gives sparkling bubbles without additional flavors, maintaining clarity and refreshing qualities.

Served in a sturdy glass with ice and garnished with mint and lime wedge, this beverage fits well as a cool, non-alcoholic alternative at warm gatherings or as a simple, flavorful refreshment anytime.

Variations can include substituting the sugar with honey, agave, or simple syrup depending on texture preference, and choosing sparkling water or clear sodas. Quantity adjustments can be made for sweetness and lime intensity.

Notes

  • Spearmint is traditional for mojitos, not peppermint.
  • Granulated sugar gives texture; alternatives like agave or honey can be substituted but change mouthfeel.
  • Club soda can be replaced with sparkling water or clear soda such as Sprite or 7Up.
  • This recipe yields one serving.
