30-Minute Homemade Olive Garden Chicken Alfredo
Description
The 30-Minute Homemade Olive Garden Chicken Alfredo combines grilled chicken breasts seasoned with salt and pepper, alongside a sauce of butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese. The chicken is cooked on a grill to develop light charring and then sliced for serving. The Alfredo sauce forms by warming cream and butter until bubbly but not boiling, allowing gradual thickening as Parmesan cheese is whisked in. Garlic powder is optionally included for a subtle additional note.
This meal highlights creamy, cheesy sauce enveloping tender fettuccine pasta, topped with juicy, mildly seasoned chicken slices. The butter and cream deliver richness, while the Parmesan contributes a sharp, savory edge. Serving the grilled chicken over sauced pasta makes for a filling and comforting dish.
Original notes recommend substituting linguini, spaghetti, or penne if desired. The chicken should be cooked fully yet remain juicy, with suggested stovetop or grill timings. Sauce left over can be stored separately for reheating without the pasta to maintain texture.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 12 ounces chicken breast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 4 ounces butter
- 3/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder if desired
- 8 ounces fettuccine prepared according to package directions, or other pasta
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Brush the chicken breasts with oil and season them with salt and pepper. Grill for 5 to 7 minutes on the first side. Flip the chicken breasts and grill for another 3 to 4 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove the chicken from the grill and set aside. Cut the chicken into slices when ready to serve.
- To make the alfredo sauce, warm the cream and butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat until small bubbles begin to form. Do not let the mixture come to a boil. Add the Parmesan cheese and whisk quickly. Add the garlic powder, if desired, and continue to whisk. The sauce will thicken after a minute or two.
- To serve, place half of the prepared pasta on each plate. Then top the pasta with sauce and sliced chicken breast.
Notes
- Fettuccine is traditional, but linguini, spaghetti, or penne can be used as preferred.
- Grill or sauté chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through but still juicy.
- To save leftover sauce, remove it from heat before mixing with pasta and store in a separate container in the refrigerator.
