4 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe

This guacamole combines ripe avocado, lime juice, finely chopped red onion, and sea salt into a chunky, creamy dip. The lime juice adds brightness while the onion contributes mild pungency after rinsing. The mashed texture with some chunks keeps it fresh and appealing, great for serving as a snack, dip, or accompaniment to dishes, and it can be chilled briefly to meld flavors.

Description

The 4 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe uses 2 ripe avocados mashed with lime juice and salt to deliver a creamy base. Finely chopped red onion is rinsed under cold water to soften its sharp flavor before folding in, lending subtle crunch and mild pungency. The ingredients combine into a refreshing, slightly tangy dip with a creamy yet chunky texture that is easy to prepare.

Serve this guacamole as a dip for chips, a topping for tacos, or a side to grilled meats and vegetables. It holds well if chilled for a short time, allowing the flavors to blend without losing its fresh color or texture.

From the notes: rinsing the onions helps soften their sharpness and stirring them in last ensures they stay crisp. Store leftover guacamole in the fridge covered with clingfilm pressed onto the surface to minimize browning, and consume within two days for best freshness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 avocado 280g flesh, medium
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Juice of ½ lime
  • red onion finely chopped (20g, small
  • ¼ teaspoon salt or more to taste, sea salt

Instructions

  1. First of all, slice the avocados in half and remove the seeds. Scoop out the flesh with a large spoon.
  2. Chop the onions. Rinsing them under cold running water for 30 seconds after chopping removes any pungency and softens the flavor.
  3. Place the avocado flesh, lime juice and sea salt in a bowl and mash with a fork or a potato masher until well combined, leaving some chunks. Alternatively, pulse briefly in a small blender for a smoother guacamole.
  4. Stir through the finely chopped red onion. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve.

Notes

  • Rinse chopped red onion under cold water to reduce sharpness before adding.
  • Store leftover guacamole in the fridge covered tightly with clingfilm touching the surface to keep it fresh up to 2 days.
  • Optional toppings include chopped cherry tomatoes, cilantro, crushed garlic, or red chili flakes for added flavor.
  • Serve immediately or chill for 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
