7 Layer Bars

7 Layer Bars are a layered dessert bar featuring a graham cracker crust topped with chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and pecans, all held together by a sweet layer of condensed milk. The ingredients create a rich, chewy texture with a combination of nutty, sweet, and buttery flavors. Baking until the edges brown gives the bars a slight crispness while keeping the center chewy. These bars are suitable for serving at casual gatherings or as a sweet snack.

Description

The 7 Layer Bars recipe starts with a crust of crushed graham crackers mixed with melted butter, pressed into a baking dish to form a base. Over this crust, layers of chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans are carefully spread. A can of sweetened condensed milk is poured over the top, binding these layers together during baking. The bars bake until the edges begin to brown, signaling the right doneness.

The mixture of ingredients offers a combination of crunchy, nutty pecans and coconut alongside sweet melted chocolate and butterscotch. The condensed milk melts and caramelizes as it bakes, providing a chewy, sticky texture that contrasts with the crisp base. Cooling the bars completely after baking helps them set properly for easy slicing and serving.

This layered bar dessert is practical for casual occasions or potlucks, providing a rich and satisfying sweet treat that is easy to make and slice into portions.
