Agua De Guayaba

Agua De Guayaba is a refreshing Mexican beverage made by blending fresh ripe guavas with water, sweetened with sugar, and optionally enhanced with fresh lime juice. The guavas are pureed and strained to remove seeds, resulting in a smooth, sweet, and subtly tangy drink. Chilling it before serving heightens its cooling effect, making it suitable for warm days or as a vibrant accompaniment to meals.

Description

Agua De Guayaba features fresh ripe guavas blended with water and sweetened with sugar to create a smooth, seed-free juice. The natural sweetness of the guava offers a rich tropical flavor that is balanced with the optional addition of lime juice for a touch of acidity. Blending the guava halves with water produces a puree that, once strained through a fine mesh sieve, leaves behind seeds for a smooth texture. Refrigerating the drink until well chilled ensures a refreshing experience.

The flavor is sweet and mildly tart, highlighting the guava’s fragrant aroma and tropical notes. Since it is served over ice, the drink is cooling and hydrating, ideal for warmer weather. The preparation requires minimal ingredients and simple steps, focusing on extracting pure guava flavor without added preservatives or artificial flavorings.

This juice can be served as a stand-alone refreshment or alongside light meals. The subtle sweetness and natural fruit essence make it an appealing drink to accompany Mexican dishes or as a palate cleanser between courses.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 to 7 guava fresh ripe
  • 4 cups water
  • cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice optional, fresh

Instructions

  1. Start by washing the guavas thoroughly. Then, remove the ends and slice them in halves.
  2. Place the guava into a blender and add the 4 cups water. Blend until you have a smooth puree.
  3. Using a fine mesh strainer placed over a large container, strain the puree to remove the seeds. Transfer the juice to a pitchen, add the ⅓ cup sugar and mix until it dissolves.
