AIP Taco Seasoning
Description
The AIP Taco Seasoning recipe provides a spice blend made of dried oregano, onion powder, salt, garlic powder, ground ginger, dried cilantro, turmeric, and cinnamon. These ingredients are combined evenly and stored for use in cooking. The seasoning is then applied to raw chicken breast pieces, which are cooked in olive oil over medium heat until browned and an internal temperature of 165°F is reached. This method ensures juicy, well-seasoned chicken suitable for assembling tacos. The final dish pairs the seasoned chicken with tortillas, pico de gallo, and optionally, avocado for added creaminess and freshness.
This seasoning mix is free from common allergens and nightshade spices, making it suitable for specific dietary needs. It highlights warm spices like ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon alongside herbal notes from oregano and cilantro. Cooking the chicken in olive oil allows for a gentle sear and retention of moisture. Serving suggestions include using the seasoned chicken in tacos or salads, tailored to taste with additional salt if desired.
To enhance flavor, the mix can be prepared in advance to allow the spices to meld. For balanced seasoning, measure roughly one teaspoon of the mix per half-pound of meat or vegetables. Adjust quantities for spiciness preference, and refrigerate the dressing in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

Instructions
AIP Taco Seasoning
- Measure oregano, onion powder, salt, garlic powder, ginger powder, dried cilantro, turmeric and cinnamon powder into an airtight jar. Close the lid and give it a good shake to mix them. Store in a cool and dry place.
AIP Chicken Tacos
- Add the chicken pieces to a bowl, stir in a tablespoon of the previously made homemade taco seasoning and combine.
- Next, heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chicken to the pan in a single layer, and allow to brown for about 5 minutes on each side or until the chicken attains an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. You can add more salt at this point, if you feel the chicken needs more seasoning.
- Serve onto tortillas, tacos, with avocado or simply make a salad and top with pico de gallo!
Notes
- Prepare the taco seasoning blend ahead of time to develop the flavors fully.
- Use about one teaspoon of the seasoning mix for every half pound of chicken or vegetables cooked.
- Adjust the amount of seasoning based on your desired spice intensity.
