This Air-Fryer Chicken Wings Recipe, with a Thai Chili glaze, results in healthier, crispy wings that take very little time to cook.

Ingredients

Servings

Chicken Wings

  • 4 lb chicken wings (see notes)
  • 2 sticks celery
  • 1 whole onion
  • 10 cloves garlic
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • ¼ cup Franks Hot Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (see notes)

Thai Chili Sauce

  • ¼ cup sweet Thai chili sauce
  • ¼ cup Sambal oelek sauce (see notes)
  • ¼ sup sriracha hot chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 2 tablespoon dark sesame oil
  • 4 tablespoon butter

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

Chicken Wings

  1. Put the chicken wings, onion, garlic cloves, celery sticks, carrot, and salt and bring to a boil
  2. Once the water reaches a boil add the Franks Hot Sauce and boil on medium heat for 10 minutes. (see notes)
  3. Remove the wings using a slotted spoon, and lay them flat on a cookie sheet rack to dry for about 10 minutes. (See notes)
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  5. Pat the wings dry and toss them in the baking powder.
  6. Air fry for 15 minutes, flipping them halfway through. (see notes)
  7. Remove from the oven and toss in the prepared sauce. (see notes)

Thai Chili Sauce

  1. Grind, crush or grate your garlic, and ginger.
  2. Add these along with all of the remaining ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer for 5-10 minutes to get a well blended consistency
  4. Cover and set aside till it's time to toss the wings

Garnish

  1. Plate and sprinkle with the sesame seeds and cilantro and serve.

Notes

  • Chicken wings - Buy a package of mixed wings, half flat pieces, and half drums, so you have an even amount of each.
  • Baking powder - This is essential to crispy wings, and I use ½ teaspoon per lb of wings.
