Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter melted, unsalted
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 4 apple Granny Smith variety
  • 8 caramel chewy squares
  • cooking spray

Serving:

  • Ice cream for serving
  • caramel sauce

Instructions

Prepare the apple blooms:

  1. Slice the top off of each apple then use a teaspoon to scoop out the core.
  2. With a paring knife, make two circular cuts in the apple. Place it cut side down on a cutting board and slice crosswise, careful not to cut through the core.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, both sugars, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  4. Fill each apple with two caramel squares, then brush generously with the melted butter mixture on top.

For oven:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and grease a small baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Place the prepared apples in the baking dish and bake until the apples are tender, about 30-40 minutes.

Air fry:

  1. Arrange the prepared apples in the air fryer basket and bake at 350 F for 15 to 20 minutes, or until tender.

Serve:

  1. Serve warm topped with ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
