Air Fryer Apple Crisp Recipe
Description
The recipe starts by coring and slicing large fresh apples without needing to peel them. The apple slices are mixed with half the brown sugar and apple pie spice to evenly coat the fruit with sweetness and warm spice tones. These are cooked covered in the air fryer to soften the apples.
While the fruit cooks, pecans, oatmeal, remaining brown sugar, and apple pie spice are combined, then butter is cut in with a pastry cutter to create a crumbly topping. After the initial cooking, the topping is spread over the softened apples and air fried uncovered to develop a crisp golden crust.
This apple crisp is served warm and can be complemented with caramel, whipped cream, or ice cream. The air fryer enables quick cooking without heating a conventional oven and produces a nicely textured crisp topping and tender spiced apples.
If apple pie spice is unavailable, either prepare a homemade blend or substitute cinnamon alone.
