Air Fryer Apple Fritters

Air Fryer Apple Fritters combine a spiced dough with chunks of peeled and cored apples cooked until golden and tender. The fritters are formed in small portions, sprayed with oil, and air fried until crispy outside and soft inside, with the option to glaze them for added sweetness. This technique offers a lightly fried treat without deep frying, preserving a tender apple texture inside a mildly spiced dough crust.

Description

These apple fritters are made by mixing flour, baking powder, sugar, and warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and optional cardamom with eggs, milk, and vanilla. Peeled, cored, and chopped apples are folded into the batter, which is portioned into fritters spaced properly to cook evenly in the air fryer. Spraying with cooking oil before and after flipping fosters a golden exterior crust. The fritters cook quickly at 350°F, yielding a lightly crisp shell while keeping the interior dough and apple pieces soft and tender. A glaze can be drizzled after cooking for extra sweetness and shine. The air fryer method simplifies traditional frying by using less oil and still achieving a satisfying texture contrast between crust and fruit.

Notes

  • Cook only one or two fritters at a time to allow proper air circulation and even cooking.
  • If the batter is very wet, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper sprayed lightly with oil to prevent sticking but still allow airflow.
  • Dry chopped apples thoroughly with a towel before adding to the batter to avoid sogginess.
  • Use an ice cream scoop to portion the batter evenly for consistent fritter size.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and consume within 3-5 days for best texture and freshness.
