Air Fryer Baked Potato

These Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are coated lightly in olive oil and salt, then cooked at high heat until tender inside with a slightly crisp skin. The method uses an air fryer for a convenient way to bake potatoes without heating a full oven, yielding a fluffy interior ready for toppings like butter, chives, bacon, and sour cream. This preparation is practical for quick meals or side dishes.

Description

The Air Fryer Baked Potato recipe prepares potatoes by washing, drying, lightly oiling, and salting them before piercing the skin multiple times. They are arranged with space in an air fryer basket to allow hot air circulation, then cooked at 400°F for around 25 minutes. Doneness is checked by gently squeezing the potato to confirm softness inside; if not tender yet, they cook an additional 5 to 10 minutes. Once cooked, the potatoes can be split open and served hot with preferred toppings such as butter, sour cream, bacon, or fresh herbs.

The air fryer creates a tender potato with a crisp skin in less time than a conventional oven, without needing preheating. This technique is useful for side dishes or quick meals where a baked potato is desired without extended cooking times.

Serving with classic baked potato toppings enhances the flavor and makes for a satisfying dish. The method is scalable depending on how many potatoes you need to cook.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 5 potato
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Lightly coat your potatoes (after washing and patting dry) with some oil and sprinkle some salt on. Prick them 3-4 times across the surface with a fork.
  2. Place the potatoes into your airfryer, making sure there’s space to allow the hot air to circulate between them.
  3. Turn your airfryer on and set it to 400F for 25 minutes. No preheating is necessary!
  4. After 25 minutes, open your airfryer and give the potatoes a gentle squeeze on the side to see if they’re done. They should be squish-able! If they’re still hard, let them cook for another 5-10 minutes.
  5. Once done, split them open and put your choice of toppings on them! I had a mix of butter, chives, bacon, and sour cream.
